AARON HABGOOD

"You won't catch them sitting at home on the couch!"

With his larger than life personality Aaron is now one of Australia’s best fishing talents. At the young age of 30 Aaron has achieved more in the fishing world than most keen anglers would accomplish in a lifetime and now Aaron (Red) is sharing all his amazing knowledge and talent to all Salt Guide members.

Aaron lives and breathes Port Phillip Bay and has been fishing as long as he can remember. What seems to be sheer natural talent is actually a myriad of one percenters learned over a lifetime of fishing and carried out instinctively to find any fish he is targeting and turn the day into a feeding frenzy.

When you’re on the water with Aaron it truly is amazing to watch him switch the fish on and turn a day out in the bay or offshore into the fishing trip of a lifetime. Before you know it, you’re heading home with a quality bag of fish on ice ready for the table and your family to enjoy.

Aaron has gained a reputation for consistently catching quality fish in Port Phillip Bay and offshore. Both in and outside The Heads, Aaron targets snapper, mako sharks, kingfish, gummy sharks, calamari, garfish and, his speciality, King George whiting.

Aaron also enjoys and has great experience in all of our favourite game fish species and he travels each season to Eden, Bermagui, Portland, Apollo Bay, Port Welshpool and Lakes Entrance to hook big barrel blue fin tuna, kingfish, swordfish and marlin.

At the Salt Guide we reckon Aaron often spends more time on or in the water than on land and when the season is on you will often find Aaron with flippers and a tank on his back. There is never a shortage of lobster or fresh scallops on his table.

Aaron imparts a lifetime of skill and technique to Salt Guide members so you too can consistently catch your target fish throughout each and every season.

Starting out like any young angler, Aaron grew up fishing with his Dad and 3 brothers. Spending quality time out on the water with his family not only inspired him to make a career out of fishing but made him want to encourage families to get out on the water with their children and now he does so with his own young children.

At 15 years of age, Aaron ventured into deeper water and into commercial chartering but some serious health issues at this young age resulted in a heart transplant at just 16. More than 15 years on and Aaron and that donor heart are still going strong. Aaron is a proud supporter of DonateLife and strongly encourages everyone to register as an organ and tissue donor. It’s a lifesaver.  Register as a donor

Aaron also hosts a weekly radio show with old mate Patrick Dangerfield. ‘Reel Adventures’ broadcasts on SEN  each Saturday morning from 8.00 am.

Come with Aaron (and the team) on the Salt Guide journey through life and get ready to catch your preferred species of fish year in year out.
